Fraud, embezzlement, misrepresentation, book-cooking, and more. And as I read them, I shake my head in wonder. "What can these people have been thinking? Has Japanese business really sunk so low? These crimes are so short-sighted -- so stupid." I was brought up to believe Japanese were energetic and forward-looking; hard-working and conscientious; honest people you could trust; resourceful people who had created a proud culture worthy of respect. But this faith keeps getting betrayed. And not just in business. But it is business that must take the lead in restoring Japanese integrity. Management needs to find new ways to draw out and encourage people's inner strengths. We need to get everyone working together. And we need to regain that sense of fair play and integrity that tackles every problem head-on and finds responsible solutions. We need to get our act beck together and bid a firm farewell to sleazy shortcuts that mock our ideals. Mitamura Kazuhiko Mitamura Planning Studio
