FoundationThe Swiss Chapter, founded in Geneva, December 8, 1977 is celebrating its 28th anniversary this year. It is a non-profit organization whose members are leading marketing and communications professionals and leaders of opinion in the social, political and business community in Switzerland (mainly in the French speaking part of the country) and nearby France.
MembershipBy cooptation proposed by two "godfathers" and approved by the majority of the Board of Directors. All memberships are individual, a company or corporation is not eligible. In some cases, when there is a change in a member's employment status, he may be allowed to continue his membership in his new position. Decision to be taken by the Committee. We apply a numerus clausus policy of 250 members (including honorary members).
ActivitiesLunch meetings are held at the Ramada Park Hotel (close to the airport) usually on the 3rd Thursday of each month, except in July and August. The annual General Assembly, restricted to members having paid their annual dues for the year, takes place on the 3rd Thursday evening of February. It is followed by a Gala dinner and presentation of the Marketing Excellence Award winner. The cost of luncheons and dinner is included in the annual fee but we require reservation for each meeting. Members may also invite "one guest, one time"! Members receive by mail, after each meeting, a "news letter" with a resume of the last lecturer's presentation. Every year the Chapter publishes a roster with pictures, diplomas, professional position, addresses etc. of each member. It includes also full identification and address of the foreign chapters representatives and a list of the (more than 300) lecturers who animated our lunch meetings and General Assemblies since December 1977. In July or August the members often meet in the countryside for a full day of "deconstruction" with a quick visit of a place of interest. In 2002 it was for instance the national exhibition "Expo 02" in Neuchatel-Yverdon. One's or twice a year, the Chapter organizes a trip for the members (and families) for a long Cultural Week End (ex: Prague, Istanbul, Belgium, France etc) or a tourist week (Tunisia, Morocco, South Turkey, Portugal, Mauritius, Thailand, Bali, Ria Bintan (Singapore), Opio (France), Brazil, the Caribean etc). Geneva Chapter is attending and participating with an important delegation to the MCEI World Congress (i.e. Crans-Montana, Brussels, Tokyo-Osaka, Taipei, Melbourne, Rome and Geneva in 2005).
GovernanceThe Committee, consisting of 3 to 12 members elected by the General Assembly, but usually restricted to 7 members, is the governing body. It has full power to accept candidates or dismiss members. The Committee meets with the external accounting firm at least a week before the General Assembly where the activities, accounts and budgets, controlled by an external auditor, assisted by an inside one, are to be accepted by a public vote.
Dues & fees The Committee determines the "joining fee" and the annual dues covering the 10 meals, drinks, excursions etc. The annual due is CHF 750. - The joining fee for new members is CHF 2.000. - The guest fee is CHF 100. - Secretary generalMrs. Liliane JACQUET P.O.
