May meeting Despite holidays and business pressures, May's chapter meeting at the Liverpool Raquets Club was well attended. We received a visit and presentation from Paul Stimpson - Risk Manager for ABN Ambro Bank. Despite the great distractions of acquisition activity by other global banking organisations, it's business as usual at ABN Ambro and Paul delivered a great insight into the opportunities presented by a proactive and systemmatic approach to risk management, and how it can impact considerably on the cost efficiency of any organisation. Paul has developed a model for the implementation of risk management as a profit improvement tool which he shared with a number of MCEI members at a seperate meeting. Trip to Geneva A number of MCEI members are visiting Geneva 4-7 June to hold a business development conference. We would like to convey our thanks to Gracie Beiner for hosting this conference, and we look forward to meeting some of the Geneva MCEI chapter members whilst in town. Liverpool - capital of culture in 2008 We cannot believe how quickly the 2008 celebrations are approaching! Acivity in Liverpool has been considerable, and is increasing by the week. It is anticipated that we shall receive a progress report from the organising committee at our meeting in September. We will of course be keeping you all up to date with progress and plans as the events draw near, and hope to receive visits from our international members as part of the celebrations, which I'm sure will be typically Liverpudlian!
