Background / HistoryThe Osaka Chapter was founded in 1972 to give marketing professionals in the Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe area greater opportunities to network for the fuller exchange of information and ideas. ActivitiesThe Osaka Chapter has an ambitious schedule of monthly meetings with outstanding speakers. The Osaka Chapter issues a monthly Bulletin that includes not only reports on the general monthly meetings but interviews with leading marketers, membership notes, and more. This Bulletin is issued in cooperation with the Tokyo Chapter. In addition, the Tokyo and Osaka Chapters publish 100 People, 100 Voices, an annual anthology of articulate marketing insights that shares thinking from a wide range of personal and professional perspectives. This anthology is widely read not only by Chapter members but by non-member marketers throughout Japan. Internationally, the Chapter is active in the MCEI Marketing Excellence Competition, including not only organizing its local competition but also sponsoring the winning entries as they enter the international competition. Looking at international meetings, the Chapter is regularly represented at the MCEI World Congresses (held in odd-numbered years) and the Asian Marketing Conferences held with Melbourne, Taipei, and Tokyo in even-numbered years. Indeed, Osaka has hosted conferences in both categories. GovernanceMembers of the Board are elected at the annual general meeting every year.
