Roma - Italy

History

The Rome Chapter was founded in Rome on September 29, 2002, under the aegis of the Geneva Chapter and with the auspicious presence of Mr. Paul Genton, MCEI International Chairman.

Italian government authorities finally granted the Rome Chapter by-laws formal legal approval on January 27, 2003, which date which marked the official start of the Chapter’s activities.

Activities

In September  2003, the Rome Chapter hosted the MCEI World Congress at the magnificent “Hadrian Temple.” This Congress was attended by approximately a hundred MCEI Chapter members from Brussels, Geneva, Melbourne, Osaka, Taiwan, Tokyo, and other locations. For details, please see http://www.mcei.org/en/next.events.asp?id=437

The Congress proper was followed by a sightseeing tour of the region from Rome to Naples, which gave participants the opportunity to initiate new network relationships and reinforce existing ones.

Following the World Congress, only informal meetings took place during 2004 mostly covering communication and marketing subjects of interest to the founding members.

Following this, the regular informal meetings of the Rome Chapter were supplemented by a special event on Saturday    May 28, 2005, at the Hotel Méridienne in Palestrina, only 25 km from Rome, where Umberto Clia discussed marketing and tourism in the Rome area. Additional formal meetings are also planned in the 2005 Events’ Program, including the next Ordinary General Assembly.
