Background / History

The Taipei Chapter was founded in 1991 to give marketing professionals in the Taipei area greater opportunities to network for the fuller exchange of information and ideas about marketing communications.

Activities

The Taipei Chapter has an ambitious schedule of monthly meetings with outstanding speakers.

In addition to these general-interest meetings of all of the members, the Chapter also offers smaller, more specialized meetings monthly. These meetings alternate between subjects of specific interest to the distribution sector and subjects of broader social interest.

In addition, the Taipei Chapter publishes _Marketing Communication White Book_ about the Taiwan area, a biennial market overview replete with marketing insights that shares thinking from a wide range of personal and professional perspectives. This _White Book_ is widely read not only by Chapter members but by non-member marketers throughout Taiwan.

Marketing Excellence

Internationally, the Taipei Chapter is very active in the MCEI Marketing Excellence Award competition, including not only organizing its local competition but also sponsoring the winning entries as they enter the international award competition.

Looking at international meetings, the Taipei Chapter is regularly represented at the MCEI World  Congresses (held in odd-numbered years). In 2005 a delegation participated to the Geneva Congress. Taipei also has provided speakers for Asian Marketing Conferences and hosted conferences.

Governance

Members of the Board are elected at the annual general meeting each year. In addition to working on behalf of and reporting to members, the Board also reports to the Taiwanese government in accordance with the regulations governing its official status as a non-profit organization. The Taipei Chapter is a single NPO for government registration purposes.

Membership

Provision is made for both individual members and corporate memberships. Would-be members must be recommended by two current members and approved by the Board. Current membership is about 17 corporate members and 22 individual members.

Dues & Fees

Membership is NTD 15.000/year for corporate members and NTD 4.000/year for individual members. Corporate members are entitled to nominate up to four people to represent the company at all Chapter activities.
